Harvard's Search for New President
I stumbled across an interesting article describing Harvard's search for a new president. Here is an excerpt that should please readers of this blog.
The growing financial importance of research also could pressure Harvard to tap a scientist, something it hasn't done since 1933.

Athugasemdir
Of course, although recent Harvard presidents have not been scholars of the natural sciences, most of them have been distinguished scholars!

Indeed! Not to mention that they have all been insightful observers of academic and scientific life. One of the reads on modern (American) universities is the book Universities in the Marketplace: The Commercialization of Higher Education (Princeton University Press, 2003) by Derek Bok, former and acting Harvard president. I strongly recommend it to readers of this blog.
